and pregnant women on a bus, train etc?

(I don't mean to curtsey or bow to them, or to defend them in an argument - but to give up your seat).

I would always stand up for someone elderly or infirm. I`m disgusted by how many people don`t.
Not sure about pregnant women though. A colleague of mine did that once and the woman said "Im pregnant, not f*****g disabled". He said he`d never do it again
yes......to old folk, pregnant women and hotties

lol JJ.

It's a sort of pleb transport, sometimes in a double layer. You have to pay but there is no guarantee of a seat. Shocking.
LOL LOL

Hi, Sals.

Oh, by the way ... if a pensioner is standing on a train, they might have wandered through from Economy, so it's best to help them through to the next carriage.
I would give up my seat for a pensioner, definitely.
On the Daily Mail website yesterday, there was an article about people being frightened of offering pregnant women seats, incase they were fat and not pregnant.
My husband is on crutches and has just started working. When he gets the train home, he said so many women have a bag on their seat next to them and he asks them if they can move it (politely). He said so many of them huff and puff and give him dirty looks cause they obviously think their bag needs a flipping seat (or they don't want someone sat next to them). He has to sit down because it's an hour and a half journey and that's a hell of a long time when you're on crutches.
I personally, wouldn't hesitate in offering my seat to someone on crutches. Sorry I went off on a rant lol.
i would but i rarely get public transport anymore
I`d get great pleasure in making someone move a bag they`ve put on the seat preventing someone from sitting down. In fact I`d probably just do it to be awkward even if I didn`t want to sit down!
I do for the elderly, the obviosly pregnant and mothers with small children but thats it now. Stand up for a woman these days and your obviously a patronising chauvanist.

Innit?
I'm damned if I will give up my seat.

(I drive buses)
Some Snag was sitting sideways on a seat yesterday with a giant paper extending over to the other seat so he could pretend not to notice or acknowledge it was an incredibly crowded train. On principal I slapped my ample backside down without saying 'excuse me' causing him to have to withdraw the paper pretty damn quickly and sit properly. Ignorant twit.
"frightened of offering pregnant women seats, in case they were fat and not pregnant"

I don't think that's a problem.

Fat, out of shape people, who don't look after themselves also find it harder to stand for long periods, and so it's nice to let them have your seat.

Just say ... "Crikey, you look a bit of a lard ar se. Would you like to sit down?"

They will accept graciously.
