How do I get rid of the ants and ant eggs that are covering all the top leaves of my ornamental cherry tree? The leaves are startiing to droop and die from the weight of the ants and their eggs and the tree looks horrible :(

they wont be ant eggs as they keep them in the dark usually underground. More likely is your cherry tree has aphids and the ants are feeding off the aphid droppings which is high in sugar. Spray the tree for aphids and your problem should go away.

Thank you for your answer.
These definitely aren't aphid droppings, they are eggs of an insect whether it be ants or something else. There are literally thousands of them coating the underside of all the top leaves of the tree :(
I will spray the tree later today with soapy water as I would for aphids and see what happens.
They are certainly not ants eggs!!

Maybe not ratter, but they aren't aphid droppings either. There is no sign of a single aphid on the tree, I have looked long and hard for them. lol
Post a photo on here so we can see them.
Could it be scale insects ?
on a cherry quite likely
