To cut a long story short.....

I was having some work done in my bathroom & the workman hit a pipe-which obviously caused lots of water to gush everywhere.

The burst pipe ran through the bathroom floor & into a cupboard.

In that cupboard was my son's PSP hand console-which is now broken.

I had a box of photo's which got drenched & are now runined!

The water run through the ceiling rose which caused my electricity to trip-This broke my fish tank pump.

The company who carried out the work have advised they will replace the PSP & Fish Pump & give compensation for the photo's.

I would like to know what you guys believe should be offered in respect of the photos and the inconvenience?

I can never get back these photo's which I am deeply upset by. Some where very old!

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

see if you can get the photos copied and touched up. Try your local photographers or developing store

Thanks redcrx. Thing is, the workman wasnt aware the water was going into the cupboard.....so it wasnt until a fews hours later that the cupboard was emptied. When the photos where discovered they were literally stuck together.

Some tore when I tried to seperate them :-(
yes but its worth trying, and that way you may get the true cost of restoring them if they can be saved
Otherwise the value of the photos isnt much at al as they cant be replaced at all
do you have the negatives??
If photos are stuck together, immerse them fully in a bowl of luke-warm water and after a while they'll separate without effort. When photos are printed they're placed in developing liquids, then rinsed thoroughly in water - so water won't harm them. (Up to a point, i.e. don't leave them soaking overnight!) NB. This only applies to true photographs - not those done using a computer printer
Look in the yellow pages and find a specialist photography shop, tell them your problem if they cannot help, they may be able to suggest someone who can.
