I have been looking into the FT of my bf. I found his grandmother in Scotland. She was married to a german. After his mother's birth in 1930, the german disappears, although I have now found him. My BF was told that he had been repatriated during the war and the reason that his grannie divorced him was that he wanted her to go back with him. I think this is distinctly unlikely - he came to this country when he was aged 1 and by the age of 11 was in an orphanage so it is unlikely he would have spoken much german or been terribly aware of his german heritage. It transpires that he became a comedian and ice skater and travelled all over the world. He fathered another child by the name of Gloria Antoinette Henshall and I think she married in America (she didn't marry here) because she went under the name Cardona (although this could have been a stage name). Gloria in turn had a child in 1958. This child would be my BF's half cousin and he would like to make contact. However, I can't find him ANYWHERE! No death, marriage etc, no electoral roll so unless he has emigrated I have no idea. I am going to obtain a copy of his mother's death certificate to see if he was the informant.

Now here is the twist. (2 part post)

I have no idea Craft! I think I need a copy of her death certificate and probably that of her mother's to see what happened. It's all very strange. Doesn't help that Robina (the BF's grannie) was a bit of a fibber.
It could just be that Robert has never married and he has been moving about and so not shown up on the electoral roll, it looks like she was pregnant when she travelled back to England, and she gives the address as London, so why was Robert born in Liverpool?
He wasn't he was born in Wandsworth.....
Don't you fancy giving the Bob Cardona on Friends Reunited a go BM.......it's easy enough to send him an email via them, and his school dates put him around the right age.

I might just do that Craft! It would be interesting to see if he is the chap. This family is starting to do my head in. My bf's siblings all keep asking questions to which the answer invariably is "I don't know"!!!
I emailed a bloke purely on a hunch going by his name and the date he left his school in Bristol....he turned out to be a cousin!

Oh well message sent along the lines of "I apologise for the strangeness of this email". I will keep the thread updated as and when (If!) I get a response!
sorry been out, yeah it was his mother that was born in Liverpool, I haven't found Gloria travelling to the US by boat at all but as she came back to England as cardona and gave birth to Robert the same year she must have married in the US, but they do records by state and so it's not an easy task, have you not had the birth certificate for Robert to check who his father was?

Had a response from the Bob on Friends Reunited. Not our chap.
Oh well BM it was worth a try............
