Red sofa, cream carpet, white walls - what other colours?

The living room in my flat (which is open plan into my kitchen and very modern) has cream carpet, white walls and I have a cherry red sofa and all other furniture is white. Problem is, what I thought would be striking looks very boring and dull. I'm thinking of painting or wallpapering one or two walls in a feature colour - just can't decide what. Hate brown and creams - so they are no go. Want something really bold (was thinking orange, fuschia, black or turqoise perhaps?) - anyone have any ideas?

That turqoise/duck egg blue is really nice but not sure if it'd go with a red sofa. If you're main colour is red, I'd stick to warm tones. Do you have cushions on the sofas/throws as even things like that can add to the room?
strong bright green goes very well with both white and red and will also bring out the cream
I moved house and had cream carpet put down. The walls were already cream and I have two red sofas. The curtains were already there (its a through lounge) and I couldn't afford to change them so kept them. They are a gold colour and actually they don't look too bad at all. I changed my cushions and have red and gold. (when I say gold I don't mean sparkly gold - more a dull gold) Hope that helps.
i would go for charcoal gray - I have red leather sofas, but with an oak floor and cream walls - I got some lovely laura ashley modern style curtains with spiky looking cherry red and charcoal gray flowers on them and it looks lovely. I am sure that they do a matching wallpaper.

Beautiful wall paper in Laura Ashley at the moment, lots of big bold prints go and have a looksey. Lots of black based papers, dont do turquoise or orange by the way.

Thanks for all the ideas. I have a large old art gallery poster in black and white on my wall and found some fab fabric in Ikea to match - white background with a black stencil pattern - which I've made some cushions out of and it looks great.
this sofa might be an idea t oyour colour scheme
