What reasons has your son/daughter (someone else in Secondary school) been excluded from school for? I'm asking just too see what kind of things will be dealt with by way of a Fixed Term Exclusion because I have heard quite recently about some stupid reasons for exclusion so would like to see what other reasons Abers have to share

Smoking on school premises. My daughter was permanently excluded age 15 (month before her birthday and exams) when she was one of a group of girls who were caught smoking in the toilets.

Did you appeal?
We did want to, but as my daughter was due to leave the school a few months later it would have been a waste of time...the appeal wouldn't have been heard until the following school year for some reason.
She was allowed back into school to sit her exams but she did very badly in all of them :-(

Was the permanent exclusion following repeated fixed term exclusions.....
Yes it was unfortunately. She had 5 fixed term exclusions beforehand ranging from 2 day to 10 day duration. My daughter was no angel but it was proved she was treated unfairly by her head of year who had a personal dislike of her. He no longer works at that school but his disciplinary hearing and resignation came rather too late for my daughter!
