Dear All,

I hope you are well.

We are always thinking about changing the site - hopefully to improve it all.

One thing we were considering changing is the current tab system of Most Recent/Recently Answered etc to something a little more like this:

http://www.theanswerb...&cat=moneysupermarket

Here we have the articles tab, the web tab (and the polls tab eventually). We have simplified the Q&A tabs as well. We think this might work a little better than our current system.

What we're wondering is whether we've missed anything? Are there any massive flaws in a system like this? Equally - what else would you like to see on it? Pictures? Blogs?

Now is a good time to throw any interesting ideas you have into the mix!

All the best,

Spare Ed

I mainly use the Quizzes & Puzzles forum, and am quite happy with the setup as it is.
Having just read through all the posts on this thread, I have to agree with poodledoo.
I use the Questions and Puzzles section quite regularly and on the whole find the current system adequate.
Like everything else nowadays, the more complicated it gets, the more likely it will go wrong or worse still - fail miserably.
I am not against change, but why change something that works okay.
I am lost by all that been said,
And sometimes think, I'm already dead.
Because lots of what I say, is often ignored,
And other ABers suggestions, are not fully explored.

Ed, I think only one ( 1 ) ID should be allowed, and the green probation period should be re-instated. Swift action should be taken against more than one IDs
I have to say I can't see any reason to change. I find it easy to use as it is, why complicate things. The one problem I can see that needs sorting is where people put the whole question in the title box. It makes it difficult to read. I have emailed you about this some time ago.
i agree with JimJools
I'm not too bothered whether the "Tabs" are renamed or not...

...What I would like to see is the use of a sensible font - one in which I ( cap i ) & l (low L) are distinguishable from each other. It would also be useful (especially in Q & P) to have back the facility to underline, italicise & embolden - I’ve tried it on ‘embolden’ to see if I missed its reinstatement & will see when I hit "Submit"...

Also, why was the 30 second refresh facility on "Latest Posts" removed?

I've mentioned these points before, but without reply from AB.

May I also take this opportunity to ask the Ed/Spare Ed to wake up the "Technical" dept & ask them to reply to my recent message?

With thanks for your time & attention, Lie-in King

Morning All,

In essence we want to make changes so that:

the articles are more prominent
It is more obvious to new users
The Web tab to be included
It is tidier

We also want to implement, as we have said before, a category search. Currently the site search pulls from everywhere, the category search might improve things slightly.

I agree there is no need for change if something works - except in the case of expansion.

We hope this would make it simpler to use the site.

What we really want to know is, would this make you leave AB, never to return?

We have a list of these other required changes.

All the best

You ask 'What we really want to know is, would this make you leave AB, never to return? '

I can't answer that one............it would depend on how the changes affected the site. If it started to become troublesome to navigate the site - then quite possibly. I'm not against change if it is an improvement. But as I said - 'I can't see any GOOD reason to change'.
Hi Ed, I like the sound of the new proposals with a quick if. Lose the '' all answered '' if you are keeping the search in the Answerbank facility, this will enable us to still look for an old answer to a question. Ron.
