Duplicated question in computers
Hi My son is away in Afghan and he is in touch weekly by Windows Live Messenger, as he is coming to the end of his tour within the next 4 weeks he is not always able to get online, so i am asking.
Will it do any harm to my PC if i was to leave it on and permanately signed in to messenger so he can nudge me or e-mail me and i would hear him right away.

Thanks in advance.

provided it is kept cool and is in good condition then it shouldn't hurt. Of course if you have got any bits of wire or gubbins that are about to give up the ghost then the continued heat might tip it over the edge. Does WLM or your ISP log you out if there is no activity for a stated time?

WLM has a setting that i can show myself away or not after 5 minutes and the ISP is the same so i have set them both to show.
