I bought a baby rabbit on Thursday and on getting home I found a scab on its back.  As the scab was dry and healing it didnt worry me that much.  The rabbit is only young and he is eating and runnig about and it doesnt seem to bother him if you move the hair to have a look.

I have been checking every day and it seemed to be getting better but I have checked tonight and the scab has gone.  It is red underneath like on humans if a scab comes off but next to it there is a small hard black lump and then (this is really hard to describe) but its like an indentation thats been filled in with hard white stuff.

My vets is closed tonight so I am going to go tommorow but I am worried and just wondered if anyone has heard of this before??

Sorry for the vagueness of the decription but its difficult.

Thanks for any help in advance

Not sure what it is without seeing him (could be bot fly, mange, abscesses...), so it is great that you are getting your bunny to the vet asap. In the mean-time, you might want to have a look at the following 2 links. They are both invaluable for any rabbit owner (new and old)! The first link is a medical reference site and the second is for the house rabbit society.

I hope you enjoy your new bunny! Keep us posted as to what the vet says tomorrow!

Any word on how bunny is Topsie?
