My friend got in a taxi before Xmas and the driver started to chat her up.. She wasn't interested to start with. She then got his taxi a further two times and now she's claiming to be in love with him.

She has sent him two cards, one for Valentines Day and the other a few weeks later with her number on it and a dinner proposal. He ignored both. The last time she got into the taxi, she made it really obvious that she likes him and now she won't stop going on about it. She feels like she has made herself look easy and stupid. He said 'i wouldn't say i didn't fancy you', but she's confused as to whether or not he was just being polite.

She is at a really rubbish time in her life at the minute as she's single and looking for a job etc.. I think it's silly to claim to love someone after only a few brief meetings. I think it's just the fact that she's single at the minute and has nothing else to focus on. I don't know really and want to help her as it really is taking over her whole life...

Any advice would be great!!

I don't think there is much you can do. She's a fantasist and lives in her own head. I bet she's dreaming about the wedding and everything.
I am confused I thought I was seeing double when I saw the two id threads..lol
she hangs around the drop off zone, oh good lord this girl needs some self respect asap.

tell her straight and get her doing something else to distract ehr

ok.. Well thanks for the replies and for cheering me up in the process :-)
Does she have kids or anything?
Question Author
Yes.. Grown up!! and one still at home.. And 3 grandaughters..
Was she ever like this before?
Question Author
Yes, she's always liked the thrill of a man liking her, but never turned a silly banter flirt into something so big.. I know it goes deeper, but i'm not a shrink.. I just thought an outsiders opinion would help...
Well she should count herself lucky that she has a friend like you who clearly cares enough to try and think things through and help her. She's just got to get him out of her head since she is in serious danger of becoming a little stalker like!
How long has she been single?
Question Author
She's been single about 6 years
She sounds as if shes in need of a friend just like you to worry about her !!! I think it is very nice of you to be so concerned.

She is focusing i think on the man, who in her heart of hearts is unobtainable ( for whatever reason, altho i guess hes married ) because it gives her something to think about other than her life which she is struggling to get a grip on.

Its times like this i think , ones inner strength shows and at some point she will find hers, just not quite yet...................... be there for her, kindly tell her what you believe and try and ensure as much as you are able to keep her safe.

And then let her travel her path, knowing she has you to pick her up and let her find her way back.

good luck
