LOL Karen

Birds do seem to make noises that are out of all proportion to their size !!

Those cooing sounds are really noisy.
I got my chimney sealed because I got fed up with pigeons bellowing down it..... and those seagulls, I will never forget a baby seagull pooing all over my car in the car park behind work when I parked in the docks, stinkly pooey sardiney smells all the way home... they sit on the tall lamp standards and just let rip beneath...
The worst was when I was single - you'd never expect to be jealous of mating pigeons but hey, these things happen ;)
Question Author
Oh, Boxey ... my car (and everyone else's around here) sometimes looks like a mobile mountain of seagull poo !

It is horrid.
We nearly fell down the fire escape when we had (fortunately) a mock exercise, the pile of poo on the fire escape needed to be seen to be believed. You either die in the fire or you break your neck hurtling off the poo-laden fire escape..... (fortunately that's the building we're moving out of!)
and PS a damn great herring gull ate my brother's ice cream out of his hand on the seafront at Rottingdean a few years back......
Question Author
Rottingdean is v nice, around the pond in the village. V upmarket.

I'm surprised the locals don't drive all the gulls back along the beach to cheesey Brighton !
My mum used to live in the Dene next to the pond... great place for sheltered housing. I used to visit from my flat in Woodingdean at that time (we're going back some 15 years now!).
Question Author
Crikey, Boxey ...

So do you know The Plough ?

(I suppose you must, if your mum lived near the pond !)

I quite often go there on weekend lunch times.
Indeed JJ, that was my dad's local twenty-odd years ago (he died in 1988). My parents moved to Rottingdean in the late 70s when he retired. Still have a few friends there, I trod the boards with the Rottingdean Drama Society in my day......
^ and I omitted to say, you might recall my starring moment as the Fairy of the Potting Shed, if you had been passing when they did their Famous Five skit.....
Question Author
Erm ... I'm afraid I missed that one, Boxey.

Actually, if it was the late 70's or early 80's, I was away at boarding school.

Sounds like I missed a treat !!
No no, JJ, my parents were 70-80s, I was there until 1997, you could easily have popped into the Village Hall and seen us in all our glory! (The others may still be there, for all I know!)
