I know he killed her son in disgusting circumstances, and he got off lightly, but is this new crime any of her business? Apparently she has demanded to meet Jack Straw so he can tell her what he's done, and he's agreed.

justice has been done. The killers were captured, tried and jailed. If Venables has committed another crime he should be charged with it; it seems that is going to happen, but it is no longer Mrs Fergus's business. I understand her personal grief, but Jack Straw is supposed to be running a justice system, not indulging mothers (or bloggers) who want revenge forever. That would be handing justice over to tabloid editors.
Chopsy you are now looking like a wind-up by going on and on
you have no idea what i look like, your very judgemental arent you
Actually that was quite quick and clever!
look and learn x
ummmm, alot of kids have been killed since then, and they have been tortured aswell, but i have no links, just watch the news regularly and you'll know! i am not defending the murdering scum, but i am only saying that Jamie Bulgers mum should move on now.Why the hell should Jack Straw contact her on this issue, she said 'i am dissapointed that i had to find out about this on the news, and Jack Straw did not ring me and tell me this' 'i had to ring him' oh dear god!!!
I think she was entitled to be warned that her son's murder was about to be all over the news again.
yeah i suppose, but they didnt warn her did they she heard it on the news and contacted them
I'm afraid she has become addicted to the limelight as we have seen before with other murder victim's parents.
I agree with karenmac and sara3 - Denise Fergus does not need to be given details but should have been told in advance that Venables would be in the news, just so she was prepared.

Unfortunately, we allow oursleves to be swayed by the emotiveness of issues and the strongly expressed views of people affected by crimes. Of course we sympathise with some like Fergis who's suffered one of the greatest nightmares imaginable, but that does not make her right on this latest issue, nor does it mean that every single thing she utters should be splashed all over the media.
I used to be a regular contributor on this site but stopped when it became obvious that sensible, though wide-ranging, views were replaced with acidic comments, nit-picking and general rudeness by people enjoying the anonymity such sites offer. With the price of computers plummeting it's now possible that even the thickest neanderthal, who after successfully completing six-weeks of intensive training can finally turn it on. This being accomplished they never allow their lack of knowledge, reasoning or indeed any cranial activity at all to deny them playing with the big boys.
