What is the difference between aftershave and eau de toilette. Am I right in saying aftershave is poured out onto the hand then put on the face but eau de toilette is sprayed? Should it be sprayed straight onto the face or do you spray it onto your hand first then apply to your face?

Thought there'd be more to it.
Aren't they both made for throwing "over de shoulder",( c.f. H. Cooper - Brut)
I tried putting it where Coco Chanel suggested. Now I've got an itchy bum.
I've always thought of eau de toilette as a light perfume so is sprayed on, whereas aftershave has astringent qualities which you pat on to help tighten pores after you've shaved (as it says!).
Hi Rojash... yes, Coco Chanel suggested all perfumes should be applied wherever you want to be kissed... the kitchen? the conservatory? the supermarket? Or have I got it wrong !!!.
I tried eau de toilette once, but the lid kept falling on my head !
Thank you daft grandad for that answer. You've sent me to bed with a smile on my face.
