Moving my partner into my flat

I rent a flat, currently on a 12month tenancy agreement which is up for renewal in September and I am the sole tenant. I want to move my partner in but am anxious that my landlord could put my rent up if I do so. It currently stays the same from when I moved in and does not increase each year (which is a bonus!). Is it reasonble to think that he could do this? Is there anyway I can get round it?

Have you tried asking him...?
If you ask him you might give him ideas to raise your rent in future if you friend moves in.

Not yet. I wanted to ask around first to see if it is standard practice to increase the rent. I'm assuming he could charge me something if he has to change the agreement. He's a tight-elbow so I'm thinking he might!
Does your landlord live nearby where you are?
Question Author
Yes, not far away and he is often buzzing about as he owns a few of the flats in my block
So, what does it say on your rental agreement...?

My tenancy says that I am the sole occupant
Are you allowed to have visitors or friends stay overnight?

In which case, by moving your partner in you would be breaching the terms.

So you need to get in touch with your landlord, explain the situation, and renegotiate the rental agreement.

@Society...Yes, I am allowed to have friends stay over. But
he may catch on if he has to do anything in the flat.

@Eddie..thanks that sounds reasonable to me but I bet he'll have a go lol
Eddie, the OP has already said that his current tenancy agreement specifies single occupancy - he's simply trying it on...
