Has anyone found that herbal remedies have helped ease or cure a medical condition for which there is no medicinal remedy?

Or has anyone with M.E. or Chronic Fatigue Syndrome found a natural remedy, or change of diet or lifestyle, that has helped with symptoms?

I don't have ME but I am prone to tiredness more than others, if I mess up my sleeping pattern or don't get enough sleep.

I take ginseng, Neurozan, Codliver oil and gingko (quite expensive package!). Not sure which it is, but at least one of them is giving me a big kick!

Thanks Marge. Already taking codliver oil but will give the others a go too. x
A friend of mine had ME several years back - I don't remember her taking anything specific but she drank lots of herbal tea and stopped drinking alcohol for a year to boost her immune system ( and shortly after her symptoms were gone).

Siberian Ginseng and a good quality probiotic are definitely recommended to support your immune system, and exercise of some description is generally accepted to help people with ME; however, if the fatigue is overwhelming then maybe try a more gentle form like light swimming.

Thanks Birdy. Don't drink but will def try the herbal tea instead of coffee. Will try the ginseng too. Thanks for your advice x
I have ME, and I find that doing some form of exercise, even just gentle exercise like walking, definitely helps. Also, I take Melatonin at night, which helps with regulating sleep patterns (I believe you can buy this via mail order here in the UK). Diet also plays a part - even though you may feel to exhausted to prepare a meal, and fast food or frozen meals are easier, it really will benefit if you cut out excess sugar, fat and salt from your diet and eat loads of veggies.

Thanks Amarillis. I make sure I go for a walk every day and that definitely helps but know I need to change diet. Always cook fresh proper meals but have way too much sugar and caffeine and not enough veg. By changing diet and getting some herbal remedies into my system should really help. Having a five month old doesn't help but there's nothing I can do about that!

Feel for you though. It's a really difficult illness for people to understand as, I don't know about you, but mine comes and goes in waves. Look after yourself and thanks for your help. xxx

Mine seems to go in cycles too. Some people who don't understand think I'm making excuses, because at other times I do have energy to do stuff. At least I have a very supportive family, as my dad suffers with this as well.

Take care lissyl78 xx

I have had ME for 8 years and have had to give up work.  Two months ago I read about Dr Puri's (of the Hammersmith hospital) work with fatty acids.  He recommends VegEPA.  I have been taking it for 8 weeks now (I take 5 capsules in morn, 5 at night) and I have begun to feel almost back to full health for about half of each day.  It is incredible, as I didn't really think it would help with such a debilitating illness.  My family are astounded at the improvement in my health.  Check out these sites:

There is also a book which explains the theory behind it.  You can get it from Amazon.co.uk.

Author = Dr Basant Puri.  It is called something like 'A natural Approach to treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome'

Good luck.  I really hope it works for you.

Oh - I forgot to mention that some traders sell supplies of it on Ebay, at a lower price than this site.
