Welcome to Title Builder Beta.

This small piece of kit is designed to make building your Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle question more effective. It should make finding your question easier for others and, the easier it is to find, the more likely someone is to answer it!

To build an easy to find question title simply select the paper and quiz, enter the quiz number if relevant and fill in the Publication Date. Once you’re happy click “Build Title” and the information should populate the Title field. Fill in the final required details of your question as you normally would, and click submit.

As this is a Beta we only have a limited number of papers and quizzes listed. If you think your favourite Quiz, Crossword or Puzzle should be listed here don’t hesitate to contact us.

Remember: You do not have to use the title builder - simply enter the title and question as you normally would and click submit!

Could anyone enlighten me as to what the special instructions (below) for this month's crossword mean?! I've done as many of the across clues as possible and have even done a couple of the downs, but can't work out how to put them into the grid as the spaces allocated are different lengths and shapes to those listed in brackets?!

Special instructions: Down solutions must be suitably 14 in order to be 17, not briefly edited, before being inserted in the grid. The subsidiary parts of these clues indicate what is to be inserted. Three across clues have solutions that are 17 and are not further defined

For information, the clues to 14 and 17 are as follows:
14 Worked, like one of Puck (setter)'s playmates, in retail or education (8) - I'm thinking tailored
24,17 Actor drops falling with bad 25? Not so much when retired (5,7) [though the grid actually has space not for (5,7), but for (4,1,6), so it must be one of the solutions to follow the special instructions - any ideas?!

And the answer to 25 is, I think, 'Heart', so probably indicates middle of the word.

You are correct with "tailored". You have to find the actors name whose surname contains the only letter then found in the whole grid. This word is then the first word of three phrases that a found in a well known sermon.

It's my first time trying to do the Genius, so still somewhat a novice - thanks for the help.

I'm thinking Brian Blessed now, but still not totally sure I understand how to go about the rest of it...

Ignore the dark bars in some of the down answers e.g in 4d and 18d.
For 4d the answer is 3,5 but what you enter is 2,5 (minus a certain letter)
For 18d the answer is 6,3 but what you enter is 5,3 (minus that same letter).
The clues for the down answers ignore this letter. I hope that this helps you further without giving it to you directly.

Yeah, I got it thanks and am well on the way. Down to the last 3, so will have another flick before bed and see if inspiration hits!
