Eugene Cernan, commander of Apollo 17, was the last man to step off the moon's surface.

But Harrison (Jack) Schmitt was the last to SET FOOT on the moon - Cernan came down the ladder first, but on the return Schmitt got into the lunar module first, leaving Cernan as the last man to STAND on the moon.
