I have two computers ( Laptop and Desktop ) both of which are loaded with Windows Vista. However, I have now 'set-up' for my sister-in-law a Compaq Presario Laptop which operates on Windiows7.
It is my opinion that, it is disappointing the programs no longer allows one to place into 'Classic Mode' the Start-up Menu, Taskbar and Control Panel.............Ron
Providing Classic Mode and old versions of things just means more development work and more testing for Microsoft.
It also means more code, and I guess has an impact on performance.
I guess there comes a time when Microsoft have to say the way it works in the new version is best (even if it is not) so we are dropping the old features.
I missed the classic mode at first, but I have to say, I honestly believe that, given suitable hardware, Win7 is the best OS that Microsoft have ever produced by an order of Magnitude. But... I still use XP on my main machine :-)
Windows Vista was a big mistake. So they cheaply brought out Windows 7 with just a few improvement (Which explains why it's pretty much the same but works faster).
They both work bad on my computer.
I think XP Proffesional is the best Windows.
