The screen on my laptop recently broke, and until I could get around to getting it fixed I was using a seperate monitor. I had had to change the resolution to work for the new monitor which was straight forward.
My screen was fixed this morning, so I went and tried to change my resolution back but it appears to be fixed on the lowest setting and wont budge.
If anyone could offer me advice I would be very grateful!

You've forgotten to provide the two most important pieces of information:

1) Make and model of laptop

2) Type and version of the operating system running on it

Sorry about that.

Its a Dell Latitude D505 and I use windows XP professional.
It sounds like that it's still trying to use the driver for the external monitor or, failing, that, a generic graphics driver.

Go into Control Panel \ System \ Hardware \ Device Manager

Is any device showing as not working properly, i.e. with an exclamation mark with a yellow triangle? If so, which one(s)?

If not, expand the Display adaptors node, right-click on the display adaptor and click Update driver...

Thank you for all your help. I think its a okay now.
The resolution is right but the colours are a bit dull. But that is probably just needing to get used to a new screen.

Thank you!
