Does anyone know the flying time from LHR to Saudi? I've googled it but just get prices for flights (not very good with internet). My son left London about 11am, he said he'd text me on arrival, wondering what time that will be. Thanks.

Thanks, should be there now, probably forgot to let Mum know, lol. Wendyxx
Meg, don't forget they are several hours ahead of us, it'll be middle of the night there now too!

Good point boxtops, I'm sure he's more important things to do and will get in touch in the morning.
Direct flights between LHR and Jeddah are scheduled to take either 5 hours 55 minutes or 6 hours 5 minutes, but there were no direct flights around the time you mention. (The only direct flight today left at 2040).

Direct flights to Damman are scheduled to take 6 hours 35 minutes, but no non-stop flights were scheduled for today. Flight BD775 was due to leave LHR at 1135 this morning, with one stop en route to Damman, with a total 8 hour flight time.

That stop on flight BD775 is at Riyadh. The flight time to there is only 6 hours 10 minutes.

There are no scheduled direct services to Saudi Arabia's only other international airport, in Medina.

Are you sure it was Saudi Arabia and not say Dubai?

Thanks Chris, as usual you knowledge amazes me! Had msg saying the 7am flight from Aberdeen was delayed 1 hour but he still had time to make the connection, then another saying on board the Saudi flight. I assume he is on BD775 and will hear eventually. TY, Wendyxx

VHG, definately Saudi. That's one thing I'm sure of!!
>definately Saudi. That's one thing I'm sure of!!

The reason I ask is that it is very difficult to get into Saudi, they dont tend to welcome tourists.

I went there once on business and had a hell of a job getting in.

I assume he works there then as that is almost the only way of getting in (and the guys on the customs at the airport are the most surly people I have ever met).

This is a country that treats everyone who wants to come in as a potential criminal. When I arrived I was treated so badly I almost turned round and went straight home.

Some "foreign" people work there for 2 years and I am not sure how they can stand it.

No women are allowed to drive, women cant work, all bars and restaurants are segregated (even McDonalds) - a "men" side and a "families" side.

This country really needs to get out of the middle ages.

Morning all. Son phoned me on the landline earlier apparently the internet and mobile phone connections are not good.
Chris was right, he was on the British Midland flight and got there in under 6 hours.
VHG, he is there to attend a conference. He wasn't keen on going but couldn't get out of it.
Thanks for all your help, Wendyxx
