A lot of my t-shirts have gone white or off colour under the armpits because of my deodorant ( the Gilette gel one). Is there any way of stopping this from happening, or is it just a case of changing the deodorant I use?

could be - try the dry Mitchum one, much more comfortable - no waiting for it to dry - and leaves my clothes ok. May also be actual sweat that's doing the discolouring.
Buy a spray bottle, fill it with white vinegar and spray the marks with it before washing. it may not remove the marks immediately, but over time, will remove them.
Try damping stain, rubbin in a liquid detergent eg liquigel in a bottle then leaving for a couple of hours then wash in a biological detergent.
