Snow walking stick

Has anyone got a method of walking on impacted snow and ice ? I've made a walking stick and inserted two spikes in the bottom protruding about one and a half centimetres. Simple and it works a treat. Any other ideas ?

you could obtain snow shoes :)

regarding the stick with spikes in . " could that not be classed as an offensive weapon " if anything bad happened " for instance you walk into shop and then hold horizontaly so not to damage the shop's wooden / plastic floor and accidently poke someone.

A great idea. Quick! Rush out and patent a clip-on crampon for walking sticks!

Put some old socks over your shoes.

Golf Shoes are good on ice as they have spikes underneath

Not much good if you walk on the pavement though. redman.
