these polls always ends up with recent actresses who are fresher in the memory winning..judi dench is a fine actress but to me anyway not a patch on the likes of vivian leigh, flora robson or even julie christie

And did you se what folowed. The Judi Dench in the film 84 Charing Cross Road starring the fav. actor (Anthony Hopkins)

I agree with you luckyboy I Recent stars or films always  win these polls. Although Judi dench is a fine actress I would have preferred Audrey Hepburn or as you say Vivian Leigh to win. Did you ever see Waterloo Bridge ? I love that film.

Decided against watching it after the Finest Actor programme.  How could Sir John Mills not even make the top 10?

As luckyboy rightly says it's all about who is freshest in the memory, combined with the average age of the voters, most of whom cannot be older than 32!

All the Vivian Leigh films named here were great. and prove that that the old films are still worth watching.
