For general home use, which is better, Mcaffee, Norton/Symantec, or something else?

Does Windows XP SP2 eliminate the need for some of the components of these products?

for antivirus, i like Panda software.

I find norton to be bloated, and slows your system.

SP2 does not eliminate the need for anything. just because it is "more secure" than SP1, it doesnt make it "secure". its always better to over-protect yourself then to under-protect yourself.
I'm a Norton fan, myself. Norton Internet Security is pretty comprehensive, although you have to subscribe (i.e. pay) on a yearly basis.

I agree...Panda.

Norton and the like...no thanks...Little easy to crack (re 100 year updates!) so surely if it can't protect itself then hmmmm

norton does a good job of protecting you from virii, however it slows the computer more than others, such as panda (in my experience, and others).
