I've just been for dinner with my partner, our daughter, my BIL & SIL and their two kids, we went to a restaurant in BHS, not posh but still a restaurant. SIL changed the 2.5 yr old girl's wet nappy, at the table, in full view of everyone in the room!!!! Am I a prude of is that just gross?

No not at all acceptable ugh
No - that's not on. I also don't think it is fair on the little girl - when my daughter was 2 and a half she would have been mortified if I had done that (as would my other children).

Oh good I'm glad I'm not on my own with this then.

I couldn't really believe what I'd seen, I was too gobsmacked to say anything!

I'm really surprised she did it because she's so worried about paedophiles - she took all the photos of her kids off FB incase they got into the wrong hands, then she goes and strips the poor kid in a public place.

I do feel sorry for the little girl too, but she didn't seem aware of it being odd.

oh well just another reason (on a very long list) to not spend too much time with them!
Not ideal.
Handwashing issue......child's developing sense of modesty issue......and simply not the done thing.
k8bailey I quite agree with you it is not on.! As you said she had just taken her son to the toilet so they did have one there. So she should have taken her daughter as well. Glad I wasnt in the place at the time I would not have been very happy. Poor you I bet you felt awful being at the same table.
I have seen nappies being changed in public many times but for it happen in a restaurant is just wrong. A wet nappy might put some people off of their food but I am thinking more about hygiene. All of the BHS stores I have been to have toilet facilities, which should have been utilised. And you often find that where there is a public toilet, there is also a baby changing facility.

Next time, intervene. This is just disgusting.
I would not have been pleased either, think I would have said take her to the ladies room please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
did the restaurant staff say anything, they should have really, thats breaking food hygeine rules, surely!!!
You are no prude. It shows a) a lack of hygiene b) a lack of attempting any modesty on the girl's part c) a lack of awareness of other people and the fact that they are EATING and d) absolutely abhorrent rudeness.
Thats wrong, there are always bathrooms in restaurants and nearly always parent and baby facilties so use those. Its nothing something to be done at the table or when people are eating!
