Does senokot actually work while you sleep?The only reason is i would rather be in control of my bowel movements and not running the risk of waking up in a right old mess.

Don't worry. Senacot just gets your bowels back to "normal" and you should have complete bowel control. It's not like a laxative and you shouldn't feel a desperate need to use the toilet. Take it before bedtime, and you should have a natural movement sometime the next morning. Even if it takes effect in the middle of the night, it should be just like any other time you need to loo mid-sleep. You will wake up and go to the loo!
