Any recommendations for a carpet/upholstery cleaner that does a good job, has hand tools (for stairs and edges) and takes most of the moisture out? Bonus if it does mattresses too. There are so many on the market I'm going round in circles trying to assess them all, so personal recommendation would be good.

To get what you are looking for you will have to pay a fortune, I did 11 years ago but never regretted it. I bought a RAINBOW , It does everything and all the dust and dirt goes into a basin at the bottom which is filled with water. You have to empty every time you use the cleaner. Cleans mattresses, sofas floors curtains just anything but I think mine was about 1300 pounds, you can pay over 2 years from memory. worth every penny, they will come and do a demo in your home before you buy and you can make your own mind up after the demo, no pressure. It comes with tools but the shampoo attachment is a bit extra

Whitelady, thank you for your recommendation. I googled the Rainbow website and had a look at the product. Contacted the company and waiting for a response. :)
