My apologies for this not actually being a question in a quiz or a puzzle but I feel that it would be more greatly appreciated in this category.
Is it just me, or are the general knowledge questions for these so called celebrities, seriously dumbed down?
And even then they either don t know the answer or pass.
One of the questions in the episode tonight was.
In which US city was President J.F.Kennedy assassinated?
The answer given was New York !
Another question was Snaefell is the highest point on which island in the Irish Sea?
This was passed on. Now even though I didn t know this fact I still managed to guess it was the Isle Of Man which to my knowledge is the ONLY island in the Irish Sea !
Sorry to rant but I would be interested on any feedback.

Isle of Man had a Hit with "Save all your Kisses" for Me in 1978.

Or was that Isla Sinclaiir, inventor of the C5 car?
Ye sthey are very much dumbed down. Lloyd Grossman was on the other nigh tand I knew every one of his general knowledge questions. A feat I never emulate in the actual show.
Yes, they are definitely dumbed down as are the questions for celebrities in Millionaire. Did you see it with Terry Wogan/Chris Evans and Coleen Nolan and one of her sisters? The latter couple didn't know what a plumb line was, had never heard of Bertram Mills but with help from the audience, popular culture questions and some lucky guesses, they clawed their way to £50,000. It was embarrassing to watch.
Yes I thought the questions were easier - I managed to get quite a lot of them right! However I think it is pretty sporting of the "celebs" to put themselves up for this - they donate their fee to charity and can end up with egg on their (famous) faces. I say well done, I get nervous enough at the pub quiz! (Wee Stuart Maconie did well didn't he?)
I no longer watch any of the Mastermind programmes so can't comment specifically but occasionally you will find strange or stupid answers given on lots of quizzes. One which left me completely gobsmacked recently was on 'The Brain of Britain' quiz on R4. This is a quiz for quite intelligent people.
It went somthing like this.
At a height of 310'ish metres Mount (somename) is the highest peak in which European country?
Nobody knew the correct answer but 2 of the guesses were Norway and Sweden!!!! which have to rate as possibly the stupidest guesses ever.
Nobody knows everything.
I got 3 questions right on University Challenge tonight which the thicko students couldn't answer.....mind they were on 60's music.....
I got the JFK and Isle of Man ones right plus many others, hardest thing of all was finding out who the celebs were!
