So jno are you saying that the lions will avoid the on foot skinny malnourished massai warrior who's only weapon is a spear, and then go for the strong professional western hunters in vehicles bearing the best hunting rifles money can buy instead?

How do they know who's who, do the lions have a picture book with the best recomondations, tips and Hints for hunting humans?

yes, spacedcase, I've seen it happen. Maasai are mostly pastoralists but they do still hunt lions, and the lions keep their distance.

Lions don't generally eat humans anyway; they eat antelopes, warthogs and so forth, which are plentiful and don't put up much of a fight. (It's actually the lionesses who do most of the hunting, the males are too lazy.) They don't chase people in vehicles - they don't seem able to see them unless they get out. I've had a cheetah sit on my bonnet and peer through the windscreen at me, but still not do anything.

Starving or wounded animals may eat anything that comes walking by, however, but it's pretty rare.
