Just want to apologise for being flippant and mischievous more especially as I know that area well.

Croyland Abbey as it was known then, Crowland Athletic Club has my name on the Junior Cross County winner for....I refuse to give the date.......and is now Peterborough and Crowland Athletic Club.

My father lived in Market Deeping all his life and died some 20yrs ago.......I never met him unfortunately.

I might know your grandad barmaid !! Not so far away myself - & I did say the BF lives in Peterborough at the moment didn't I? And there's a lot of folks with my surname (you know what it is...) in Peterborough apparently. And, even though it's a French-sounding name, apparently there are a lot in America. Weird.

Yes you mentioned it Salla! I have to say, I don't recognise your surname in Peterborough - although you are right it is very unusual.

And if you knew my grandad you'd get on brilliantly. He likes a laugh and a drink and is one of the funniest men I know. And he is mad as a hatter - gets up every morning to go for a jog. Even though he is 85.
