Every single day, almost a thousand dolphins, whales and porpoises die in nets and fishing gear. That's one every two minutes.

Bycatch - the capture of unwanted fish and other species in fishing gear is one of the greatest global threats facing dolphins, porpoises, and whales. That is upsetting and disturbing HAnn.  They are such lovely creatures and so intelligent.  Cruelty to any animal maddens me.
Thankyou for bringing this slaughter to a wider audience. Far too few people realise this is happening, and that dead dolphins, with tell-tale net marks on their snout,  are regularly washed up on British beaches. (This of course is just an example.)

I am glad the both of you, Peri and Solarjunkie, agree with me that this should be enraging! I always have to try to make a difference in any small way that I can when it comes to the well-being of animals...whether it be with checks that donate money to wildlife charities and spread the message to spay and neuter....or trying to get information like this out there even though it is quite disappointing and depressing!....

Who knows what small action might help....spread the word to stand up against animal cruelty and keep an eye out for ways that we can help...even in the slightest way!

Thanks for your replies....
