Usually manage the Araucaria Saturday cryptic crosswords, but Shed has me stumped this week.
Can anyone help with 7ac and 17ac. please?

7ac. -A---A-- 'Chinese river carrying cold conveyance to Hades (8 letters),and

17ac. -E-A-- 'Male strode around outside, given leave. (6 letter). I suspect DEPART, but if so, why, please.
