The company cheapercallrate.com which i found on AB website will allow you to call very cheaply abroad and assign a unique telephone number for each of the telephone number you wish to call abroad (so you dont have to dial long numbers). How does it work and how can they get the calls so cheap.

I will guess and say that they go through the USA like most of these cheap call rate companies, I have been with the company www.call18866.co.uk for about 6 months now and am very very pleased with their service, all of my family in the UK are with them and most of my friends, (no I dont work for them) I just think they do a great deal check out the call rates you wil be very surprised. (I call Canada for 2p per minute any time of the day and friends/family in the UK for 2p connection charges only) If only I did not have to pay BT for the line I could be a rich man.

I use America1st cards.....I needed to call customer Services once and I asked how they are so cheap. The operator told me that as the Big Boy's now have fibre optic cables and satallite it made the old copper cables redundant and they were able to (as a consortium) buy them cheap.

Don't sound too bazzar to me.

I know this is an old question now but I found http://www.homephonechoices.co.uk/ to be really good for telling who offered cheap phone calls to which country.
Try virtual calling card. They have cheaper rates, good discounts, better quality and prevents lengthy procedure of entering long PINs and numbers.
