Boy preacher documentary

Can anyone remember a documentary on the BBC a few years ago done by a British filmmaker about an American boy who was a preacher. The father was a preacher also. A year or two later, there was another documentary where the filmmaker returned and done a follow up and was really concerned with the boy's obsession with going to hell or the devil, I think. There were a amazing documentaries but very disturbing. Does anyone know what I mean and the name of the filmmaker, the boy or the programmes? Thanks x

Sounds like the boy in question was Marjoe Gortner. His father was a minister as well. But this was back in the early 1970s - I don't know how old the documentary you saw was.

..I saw this , it was quite recent(last couple of years), I think it was on ch4, could it have been a "cutting edge" prog?..sorry my memory is terrible ...

I also remember the documentary. It was on 4. I think it was part of the John Ronson Series Adventures with extremists But I might be wrong.
I remember it being very creepy.
