a few weeks ago i kept getting a localised headache, for a minute, in the form of a pulsing headache if that makes sense, on the edge of my vp shunt. it gradually kept becoming more often (first day happened twice and about 6 times on the friday) over the school week, then became less common over the weekend and had stopped by the monday. The same thing happened, but only for one day last week. how concerned should i be? mum said that if it starts again, on the second day, she'll book a doctors appointment.

could it be i'm not drinking enough?

at the moment i have 2 cups of tea a day, 1 cup of coffee, 1 250ml bottle of water and three lots of fruit juice.

but i did have more in the summer ( 1 cup of tea 2 bottles of water and about 6/7 lots of fruit juice)
Hi mollykins

Sounds like a mild form of migraine, which you should keep an eye on to see if it gets worse. Are you under any stress at the moment?
Cut down on Coffee, as contains caffeine and does'nt help.....drink plenty of fluids and ask mum to give you suitable paracetemol to ease it.
If it continues, i would do as Mum suggests and go and see your GP.

Good luck, mollykins, and hope it goes away.

umm stress . . . . what about mock exams next week, that if i fail i have to do foundation for the real one, tonnes of coursework to do, a ten hour mock exam last week, my parents complaining i don't do enough round the house and saying i should start to earn my keep, when i'm only 16, and am to busy to get a job, and even if i wasn't there's non available, i'm fat and overwieght but my dad won't change what he cooks and i don't have time to cook many main meals for myself, but i try and do my breakfats and lunch as healthily as possible.

That enough stress to cause a migrane?

So is it jsut a cooincidence that its on the edge on my shunt?
It don't know about shunts, but you sound as if you're under quite enough stress to give you headaches. In the ordinary run of things, a nurofen or other painkiller would probably help. The liquid intake sounds okay - in this weather you won't need nearly as much as in summer; but if you feel thirsty, have some more. If it still doesn't budge, then yes, see your GP.
Molly....shouldn't worry at the moment, as the headaches are settling.

If the headaches persist or you feel nauseous or tired, then I MAY be a symptom that the shunt is either kinking or blocking.

At the moment..."no big deal"
