Good evening to you both

We have now taken delivery of the SP27 microscope and from my brief tour of it, I must say that we are very happy that we spent the extra £50 or so, (inc VAT and P&P) on this item.

Hopefully we will have one VERY happy young (adoptive) nephew on Christmas morning.

Our thanks to you all
Regards and best wishes

A word of caution . . . be cafeful not to damage the delicate objective lens when focusing.

Use the shorter lower power objectives to position and focus the specimen before switching to the high power objective carefully observing the proximity of the objective lens when moving the focus closer to the sample.

The high power objective will be precariously close to what you are viewing but once focused using the low power objective fine focusing should be possible and safely accomplished using only the FINE focus control.
Thank you for the feedback, I hope the nephew has hours of fun.
Thank you for the update B. It's greatly appreciated.

I'm pleased that you're happy with the microscope. It is a good instrument and well worth that little bit more expenditure. There are also a number of reasonably priced accessories available should your nephew need them at a later date.

mibn2cweus has given some good advice about the high-power objectives and I'm sure your nephew will soon become familiar with the microscope.

Don't hesitate to ask if you or your nephew need any further advice. We're always pleased to help.
