im using windows mail and norton. most of it does go into my junk e-mail folder, but i have to scan thru to check nothing i want has sneaked thru. is it best to just delete these items, before they change to 'read' (which they do, even if you dont open the email), or add the senders domain to my blocked senders list. how can i stop this rubbish even getting to my junk file?

Basically you can't

now your email address is on some spam lists it will continue to have spam sent to it, if you try and filter it all out you will simply start to block genuine emails.

The best way to manage spam is to do it from the very start, create a couple of different email addresses, use one of them as your main address which you only give to friends and family and use the other one for registering on websites and the like, then when the second address starts getting too much spam simply stop using it and setup another one.

(just a random figure for you here, the spam filter I use at work has, in the last 1 month, delivered about 50'000 emails, it's filtered out 1.9million spam messages...... in 1 month!!!)
