I'm about to upgrade my phone and I'd like to know, which phones that are currently available can play MP3 files as ring tones?

The only one I know of at the moment is the Motorola V3. Anyone know any more?

I just got the new Sony Ericsson K750i free from o2.  it plays MP3's as ringtones.  pretty smart looking phone.
Loads do mp3 ringtones now:

Almost all new Sony Ericssons (k700 k750 s700 k500 etc)

Samsung D500, D600

The moto v600 onwards should do mp3 ringtones too i think.

Very few nokias do mp3 ringtones. I personally am not a nokia fan, but at the same time do not wish to offend any devout nokia worshipers. Everyone has their own taste.

I have an SE k700 and love it.

BE WARNED!!! The Motorola V3 only has about 4mb of memory to store mp3s on!!!! About 1 or 2 full songs!!!!

Whereas the others have much more:
k700 = 34mb
k750 = 96mb
D500 = 96mb

you get the idea...

imo the nokia's are the best. newer nokia's are mostly all coming out with mp3 playing ability (as ringtones).

my 6230, which has been out for a year now, plays mp3 ringtones perfectly well. also has a mmc card so the memory is expandable.
Yeah I have a 6230 too. The removable card also makes it easier to transfer music to you phone. If you don't have bluetooth on your PC you'll end up waiting ages for crappy infra-red.
other phones have removable cards too.

Sony S700

Sony k750

etc.

I went with a Motorola V980 in the end; came from my airtime supplier (Vodafone) complete with a 32Mb data card and USB cable, so all is fine and dandy.

Thx for all your help, chaps :)
