Asparagus is low in callories,only 20 per 5.3oz serving.It has no fat or chlesterol. Low in sodium. Good source of potassium.3grams of fibre per 5.3oz serving.Excellent source of folacin (folic acid).Good source of thiamin.Significant source of vitamin B6.contains glutathione (GSH) 20% VitC.4% Magnesium and one of the richest sources of Rutin, a drug which strengthens the capillary walls.

AND it tastes delicious !!

I prefer the big stuff, marinaded in some olive oil and cooked on the char grill for 10 mins. Heaven.

I was at a pub in dorchester tuesday last and they have a lovely tradition of freezing asparagus and then using them for the dart tournament. the winner may eat as many spears as he or she wishes, however the loser must eat as many [asparagus] darts as points he lost the game by. one poor fellow was required to eat 344spears causing to poop quite a lot and as strange as it may seem the local constabulary shot him on the spot seriously killing him.
