My laptop was accidentally dropped and though there was not physical damage, the screen is now gone blank. I submitted a home insurance claim and insurance company picked the laptop up. Ins company are say that when the laptop was opened, they saw finger prints and a missing screw so in their opinion, previous repair has been carried out on the laptop so they will not pay. Laptop was purchased new two yrs ago from a store which is now closed. I have no control as to what was done to the laptop pre the merchandise. Is this a valid reason to refuse a claim? Where do i stand legally on this?

Explain the situation to your insurer - assuming you have got accidental damage cover there should not be a problem. Be polite and firm.
