whats the best way to cook chestnuts?

i love chestnuts but can never cook it right, im either over or under roasing them in the oven, does anyone have any good tips cooking them? tia x

this may sound corny but roasting them on a barbecue is nice. Like in the song chestnuts roasting on an open fire....

Score them with a sharp knife, a cross shape, all but one. Roast on the oven tray on high heat 180° for about 2o mins, when the one that hasnt been scored with the knife explodes they are ready to take out! Enjoy them.
