One to go, 12dn. Cutter to deviate from course reportedly.
I have S-E-R
I have a few possibilities but can't quite explain any of them!
Is it: SHEER, SHEAR, or maybe STEER?

Sorry, just seen some other posts. Consensus seems to be SHEAR. Still not absolutely sure why!
OtR
Although the consensus is for SHEAR which does mean "to cut" I would prefer SHEER as it means to deviate or swerve and Chambers dictionary uses Sheer in the context of a cutting instrument. Sheers. Hope this helps.
