jack....point taken.
"Our side" as it were but mindful that 99% of all the dead were young men.
I'm not saying that all those, of whatever nation, who fought 'against' us are not worth remembering - obviously there are good & bad in all. But for me, it is a time to be patriotic and remember those who fought,
and especially those who died, for mine & my loved ones' freedom.

when their sons (and daughters) go off to fight and lose their lives (or limbs).

i see nuffink wrong with it, there is something faintly van gogh about it.

as far as i am concerned, this is the remembrance of all the fallen.

jake the peg, newsreader jon snow refuses to wear a poppy on air, although he does wear one off air.
I've met Jon Snow.
Oh no - actually, before I submit answer - it was Peter Snow.
We moored our yacht up alongside his yacht last summer in Plymouth and saw him again on the Yealm River. I thought it was great, because even though it was a nice enough boat - it was a bit scruffy & untidy & crammed with books. There were no airs and graces about him at all. Nice man. Eccentric - I like eccentrics (I was living on a yacht with one.......)
The poppies are a nice touch Ed.
I respect what they symbolise, and know that everyone has their own way of paying their respects but the poppy appeal raises a great deal of much needed money.

(Do not get me started on why it is has to be done by charity in this day and age! )
I like Googles logo today.....celebrating 20 years of Wallace & Gromit.....
Jake they already did take umbridge about al the TV personalities wearing them but not paying for them on Jeremy Vine the other lunchtime but I won't open the can of worms!"!!

I totally agree with jack on this issue, why not wear our poppy with pride, and yes we will remember the losses of the, then enemies, it isn't just foer us we remember, so I say wear the poppy and remember all conflicts for if these brave soldiers hadn't fought for us, we would be in a similar situation as we have seen on televeision today in Tehran.
I wear my poppy in respect and remembrance for all those service men and women who died fighting for my country. I really like the logo. A nice touch.
I like the use of the poppies as a seasonal logo but it did cross my mind that it might be nice if the Answerbank made a goodwill donation to the British Legion for using it. I know it's probably not ACTUALLY 'theirs', nor protected under copyright law (after all, it's a common flower and you can see pictures of it all year round and in many different places and contexts), but still, it WOULD be nice, don't you think?
