Frog in throat

I am just recovering from a very nasty cold. Towards the end i had a tickly cough which has now left me not being able to clear my throat. I'ts worse at night whilst in bed as it wakes me up & i feel i'm struggling to breathe! Has anyone got any cures please?

Steam is a good way of clearing the mucus.
