Sprinter, you just can't resist these threads can you? I wonder why? If this quiz has been ruined for you, you have only yourself to blame. No one forces you to look at them.
Sprinter: you have a tendency to indulge in extravagant hyperbolae. Please explain (on second thoughts, don't bother) how this quiz has been "totally ruined". The objective of the whole exercise is to raise as much money as possible for the selected charity, and I understand that this is exactly what is happening, and to enable as many people as possible to enjoy themselves in a way which harms nobody. Other commentators before me have made points which I believe to be correct: people are more likely to submit their attempt, and to send a larger cheque, if they have completed, or nearly completed, the whole quiz. Please calm down.
I'm absolutely delighted to have ruined it for you. You've made my day!

Is this why puzzles are called crosswords?
do you know this for a fact sprinter/ Or are you just assuming?
Oh I see, Sprinter. You aren't only assuming personal responsibility for policing the way in which people do this quiz, you have the arrogance to speak for the compilers too. My, aren't we the important one?!! You really don't get it, do you? The compilers organise this quiz, voluntarily, to raise money for charity, and therefore, unlike you, are clearly not mean-spirited. After all their efforts I doubt they'd be impressed with you doing your best to stop people completing the quiz, because your success would mean less submissions and, hence, less money for the charity. If you're really that concerned for the organisers the biggest favour you could do them would be to buzz off and stop interfering.

Badger 4 Naomi 24 Goofy Well done indeed for continuing to try to get through to Sprinter but I fear all our efforts are in vain. No matter what we say Sprinter always feels he/she is in the right. The compilers can surely not mind how we get our answers. It's not as if they have to pay the prize money out to everyone who gets all the answers right. They still pay out to one winner and one from the also-rans. We still think they are great quizzes, unlike one or two of the moaners who have arrogantly described it as a nice easy little quiz. The more we get them all correct, the harder they seem to make the questions. Just because we get clues on here doesn't necessarily mean it makes it easy to find the answers. I myself have taken ages looking, googling and visiting the reference library to make sense of the clues I've been given, even though Sprinter has made plenty of sneering remarks about my not even having a Chambers and similar unpleasant jibes. I care not! I will find my last two or will send it off as it is, in time to beat the threatened postal strike. I hope everyone manages to get it posted off in time no matter how many they get correct. I know Sprinter must feel very self-satisfied having done his/her almost daily complaining but I feel very sure that we all have enjoyed it much more with hints and amusing remarks from our Answerbank friends. Good luck.
