speed formula.

i want to work out my average speed on a run i just done.
i understand the formula is s=d/t. but i dont know what units to put my distance or time in :s
i ran 7k in 24:50.
how would i do it?

depends what units you want: metres per second, miles per hour, or ???
24mins 50 secs = 24 x 60 + 50 secs = 1490 secs
so speed = 7000m in 1490 secs = 4.6979.... m/sec
by coverting the units the speed can also be exprssed as
10.5090 mph
16.9127 kmh
924.8004 feet/minute
or 443 900.160 01 yards per day!
