Spurbro, if you haven't booked and have a choice of airlines I wouldn't recommend Qantas. Not one of the better airlines I've ever flown with. Our flight Brisbane to UK was hell - admitedly in Economy, but I felt like I was in a coffin. My sister in law who is a frequent UK to Oz flyer swears by Singapore Airlines. I can't give you a personal view on that one, perhaps someone else can. We broke up the journey - stopped in Hong Kong for 3 days on the way out, Singapore for 5 days on the way back. Even 12 hours on Qantas was a nightmare.
