Yes we did and I wish some kids would come round collecting as I've got loads of wood that they could use! Think its a bit of a no no nowadays for kids to chap on doors asking for stuff.
Nope. We did used to go to the big displays but bonfire night and fire works have never really been my thing.
Yep and we used to make a guy - beg old clothes and stuff them with newspaper - and usually draw a face of someone we didn't like but you hid it from your mum ( if it was a teacher or the nosey neighbour up the road - mind you don't know why we bothered with our drawing you would never have guessed)

Then we'd be asking for potatoes to cook in the fire and we'd buy loads of fire works - I can remember buying a box for 2/6 and the my dad getting my brother and me one for 15 shillings .
We used to go round collecting wood, etc., for the big bonfire my Mum & dad used to make for us. We all had so much fun together!

Also, one of my brothers & me used to make a Guy, put him on an old pushchair & stand by the bus stop, or outside the local station, collecting money towards our fireworks.

Yes I know it was begging, but 'needs must' back then! ;o}
yeah i remember my mum donatin an old table n chairs for the bonfire lmao! it was the boys that done it next door they wer older than me :P x
