Bright Star or Planet level with the moon

I have noticed a bright star or planet which is visible on most nights that other stars are not. Excuse the non-astronomical terms but it is "level" with the risen moon but about 45 degrees away ( possibly less ).

Very vague i know! My uneducated guess is Venus.

It's Jupiter, airbolt - and the moons can be seen pretty clearly with a reasonable pair of binoculars.

A lovely sight to cheer us!
If you see 3 Wise Men following it, it is the Star of Bethlehem. If not the Answers given above are correct !!!! ;-)
