Hi, wierd dilemma now, I have accepted a job to start 1st October, great managerial role, large store, decent salary, but I have just had another offer, smaller store, but back in fashion, excellent location too, lots of pluses that the one I have accepted hasn't got, though that has some great pluses too. Aghhhh, what shall I do??? I have accepted the first job, all the paperwork is done, now this has cropped up and I am more excited about it that the first job. i never expected to be in this position, the reason the second offer is winning is because of the brand and the size of store I would be managing, the one I have already accepted is a deputy managers job in a huge superstore. Obviously alot higher profile and better prospects, but that means alot more stress..........oh dear. Should I let money and power win?????

Hiya Dot. You've found yourself in a situation that you never imagined just a few months/weeks ago. What has emerged is that other companies have noticed your abilities. And you are worth the going rate.

One option is to make your choice, then go to your present employer and see if they think you are worth keeping. If you're happy where you are, and they...

Depends whether you can afford not to let money win. Power makes no odds.

Hi CD, I would be on the same salary I was on when made redundant in August, and so I know I am ok with that. It's a great chance to get into a reallt good company, but this new offer is just lovely.........
go for the one that excites you! Higher profile and better prospects dont mean a thing if youre not happy in your work.
If the money doesn't make much difference go for the one that makes you happy. Are they both equally secure?
Dot, sounds to me like you KNOW which one you really want , so follow your heart and be happy with your choice. All the best, well done and good luck to you in your new job (whichever way you go) xx
Well if you know you can manage on less money then why not take the one your heart wants you to?

When do you have to give them an answer? Could you maybe give the new job a go for a week, get a feel for it and then make your decision?

I have to accept or decline the second one by Friday/Saturday, I do know I want the second one, yes I know I do.!!!
Then take the second one.
It seems youve made your mind up

OMG and I've just checked out their clothing allowance for managers!!!!! It's more than I spend on clothes in a year!
I would go for the one that offers the best Job Security. Obviously wages play a big part so is there a big difference between the wages on offer ? it's what suits your needs best that counts.
Dot - would you happen to be the same size as me ?

lol peri, possibly!!! I'm going to relax and weigh it all up and see what i think on Friday. Then perhaps have a clear out of my wardrobe lol
